Only 6 women among top 100 young Dutch self-made millionaires; Many cashing in on AI

Men are still very overrepresented on the Quote Top 100 Young Self-made Millionaires ranking. This year, there are only six women in the top 100, up two from last year. The magazine also mentioned that remarkably many of the 31 newcomers this year made their millions in artificial intelligence.

Sharon Hilgers (34) is the richest woman on the list, coming in 37th place. She is the founder of the jewelry brand My Jewelery. Loes Daniels (35), founder of Experiencegift, returned to the top 100 this year after several difficult years in the coronavirus pandemic. Bibi Lemmers (28) is new to the list this year. Her company Flexhaus posts healthcare staff in Switzerland.

The 31 newcomers on the list include at least seven entrepreneurs who use AI. Maarten Albas (31), Jonas Ruyter (32), and Kai Bakker’s (32) company Data Chip AI helps accountants. Derk Arts (37) uses AI to help medical science research. Indra den Bakker (34) uses the technology to prevent forest fires. And Ernst van Bruggen (35) and Rien Kamman (38) use AI to help gardeners.

The ranking also includes some famous Dutch people, mostly DJs. Martin Garrix is the richest of them in 29th place. Afrojack is 68th, Hardwell is 87th, and Sam Feldt is 94th.

The Top 100 consists mostly of people in their thirties but also includes seven people in their twenties. The requirements for the ranking are that you must have made your riches yourself - no inheritance - and be younger than 40.

The total assets of the 100 richest self-made millionaires younger than 40 decreased by over 3 billion euros last year. That is due to Adriaan Mol of payment company Mollie and Robert Vis of communications company Bird turning 40 and therefore dropping off the list. Last year, they were worth a combined 3.8 billion euros.

In 2024 the young millionaires on this ranking are worth a combined 5.4 billion euros. The lower limit to enter the ranking rose from 15 million to a record 17 million euros. “So no worries bout the resilience of the Dutch elite corps of young entrepreneurs,” Quote wrote.
