Windy and cool weekend weather expected; temperatures pick up next week

Variable weather patterns including scattered showers, but also stretches of dry weather, were predicted for this weekend in the Netherlands. Saturday has a higher probability of being rainy and cool with winds of up to 24 kilometers per hour expected from the northwest. Sunday will be bright and slightly warmer with just a 20% chance of precipitation. Next week will bring gradually warmer temperatures and minimal precipitation until later in the week, according to the meteorological institute KNMI.

The forecast for Saturday is mostly cloudy, with sporadic rain showers and a possibility of hail. Temperatures might not reach 10 degrees Celsius. Though the sustained wind throughout the day will be mild to moderate in most places, gusts could hit 70 kilometers per hour during stormy periods. The strongest winds will be at the coast and on the IJsselmeer, the KNMI predicted. As the day progresses the wind will decrease. The sun has a 30% chance of peaking through the clouds.

Sunday will bring marginally warmer temperatures of 12 degrees as a maximum. The sun has a 40% chance of making an appearance and the day should be much dryer with only a limited chance of precipitation. Winds will also be calmer than the previous day, coming from the west at around 16 kilometers per hour.

The weather will continue to be variable next week. Monday should mirror Sunday’s dry weather but with slightly warmer temperatures expected.

However, With winds likely to shift from out of the southeast, Tuesday’s high temperature could reach 20 degrees while remaining cloudy dry. The rest of the week should bring temperatures in the high teens, but the likelihood of rain will increase as the week progresses. Wind speeds will also remain mild throughout the week, with little chance of weather warnings issued by the institute.

From the end of next week, higher than average temperatures are expected to return. The warmer weather should be accompanied by some dry days, as well.
