Four gold and two silver medals added to the Netherlands’ Paralympic wins

Dutch Paralympic athletes won an additional six medals on Thursday. The Netherlands has up and until now won a total of eight medals in the 2020 Summer Paralympics held in Tokyo.

Tandem duo Imke Brommer and Larissa Klaassen were the first to score a gold medal when they came in first place at the one-kilometer time trial finishing with a time of 1 minute and 5.291 seconds.

Dutch swimmer Rogier Dorsman also won gold on Thursday in the 400-meter-freestyle with a time of 4 minutes and 28.47 seconds. Dorsman, who has a visual impairment, finished three seconds ahead of his competitor Uchu Tomita from Japan.

Swimmer Chantalle Zijderveld swam a world record in the 100-meter breaststroke. The 20-year-old woman from Zwijndrecht triumphed in the SB9 class for athletes with a slight disability in a time of 1 minute and 10.99 seconds earning her a gold medal. Zijderveld also won a silver medal in the 50-meter freestyle on Wednesday.

The 34-year-old equestrian Sanne Voets and her horse Demantur RS2 impressed judges during the individual dressage test on Thursday. With a score of 76.585 Voets took home the gold medal.

Liesette Bruinsma came in second in the 400-meter freestyle in the S11 class. In the 100-meter breaststroke, Lisa Kruger achieved a silver medal as well.

The six medals won so far on Thursday were added to the two medals achieved on Wednesday: one gold in track cycling and one silver in the 50-meter freestyle swim.
