Amsterdam performance fest Uitmarkt brings in 450,000 people

A massive 450 thousand people enjoyed the hot weather this weekend by visiting Amsterdam's performance festival Uitmarkt. During the official kick-off to the Netherlands festival season, theater groups, musicians, dancers, comedians, writers and other exhibitions showcased what can be seen in the Netherlands this festival season, Het Parool reports.

This was the 42nd edition of the Uitmarkt, held on Museumplein, Leidseplein and Vondelpark this past weekend. People came from all over the country, according to the organizers. Some came specifically for the book market, others for the hiphop program.

"It was beautiful weather of course. Sometimes even a bit too hot, but there were enough activities on indoor stages where people could cool off again", Geerte Udo of the Uitmarkt organization said to the newspaper.
