Tottenham advising fans to stay clear of certain Amsterdam bars
Tottenham Hotspur warned the football club's supporters to steer clear of a number of bars in Amsterdam, in general advise to fans travelling to Amsterdam for Wednesday's Champions League semi-final match against Ajax. The match is scheduled for 9 p.m. at the Johan Cruijff ArenA in Amsterdam Zuidoost.
According to the English football club, all Tottenham fans should "avoid the pubs Monico, Hof van Holland and surrounding bars at Rembrandtplein as they will be occupied by Ajax fans".
Tottenham also calls on its fans with tickets for the match to gather on Dam Square, the meeting place proposed by the police, before the match. From there they can go to nearby Amsterdam Central Station by 6:30 p.m. to arrive at the stadium in time. Fans without a ticket are advised to stay in the city center and watch the match at one of the bars there, excluding those occupied by Ajax fans, instead of descending on the area surrounding the ArenA Boulevard.
Tickets for the match are sold out, and the Dutch police warn football fans not to buy tickets on online market places or at the stadium, as many of these tickets are fakes. The city of Amsterdam also banned face-covering clothing and fireworks before, during and after the match.
