Explosion at Amstelveen gym

An explosive caused a large amount of damage at a gym on Zetterij in Amstelveen during the early hours of Friday morning. The police believe someone deliberately set off an explosive at the gym, Gym3, which is located on an industrial terrain, the Telegraaf reports.

The explosion happened around 2:30 a.m. It shattered the gym's windows and badly damaged the interior and facade of the building. No one was injured, a police spokesperson said to the newspaper. No one was in the building when the explosion happened.

On Facebook the owner of the Gym said that the gym will be open as usual on Friday. "Not only for you, but also for us this is a huge shock. We are greatly affected by this. The damage that has been done is great, but fortunately only material", the gym owner wrote. The damage is largely limited to the gym's restaurant, Food3. "Our lessons will continue! We will not let you down or be beaten down!"

The police are investigating.
