China Eastern jet diverted to Amsterdam stuck on tarmac 4.5 hours

A China Eastern passenger jet flying from Shanghai to Paris was diverted to Amsterdam on Thursday morning due to weather conditions in Paris. The passengers on flight #553 were then forced to wait inside the Boeing 777-300 at Schiphol Airport for over 4.5 hours after their 13-hour flight.

Frustration grew inside the cabin, the Telegraaf reported. Passenger Chris Leenders said, "The crew probably cannot do anything about it, but something must be done quickly before the situation gets out of hand." Leenders added that nobody communicated details with the passengers about what could happen, or when updates would be available.

The flight arrived in Amsterdam just after 6 a.m., and left again at about 10:45 a.m. It eventually landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport just after 11:30 a.m., making the total travel time for the trip nearly 19 hours.

When you are at your destination, Amsterdam, but China Eastern doesn’t allow you to leave the plane? What kind of airline is this? Instead they fly you back to Paris and then you have to fly back to Amsterdam. How do you you call this service? pic.twitter.com/KjyRQHE14h
