Busy rush hour expected as autumn holidays start

Traffic organization ANWB expects a busy evening rush hour on Friday. Schools in the central and northern regions of the Netherlands are closing for autumn holidays on Friday, and many vacationers are expected to hit the road, ANWB reports.

In addition to that, the ANWB expects problems in the north of the country, where the A28 highway is closed for a large part of the day due to an accident involving four trucks on Friday morning. The highway is covered in mail and beets and will remain closed in both directions until at least 4:00 p.m.

In the rest of the country, the first traffic jams will start forming around 1:00 p.m. and last until around 7:00 p.m., the ANWB expects. Problem areas will be the A1 between Apeldoorn and Arnhem, the A12 between Utrecht and Arnhem, the A28 between Utrecht and Zwolle, and the A50 between Apeldoorn, Arnhem and Eindhoven.
