Rotterdam teen commemorated in The Hague

Orlando Boldewijn was commemorated in Ypenburg in The Hague on Sunday. The 17-year-old boy from Rotterdam died in Ypenburg in February, after a date made on dating app Grindr. His body was found in a lake a week after he went missing.

Dozens of people, including members of Orlando's family and his friends, attended the commemoration, followed by a silent march, RTL Nieuws reports.

One of his friends warned teenagers to stay away from Grindr, a dating app for gay men. "I have a message for all young people under 20: get away from Grindr as soon as possible. Because what happened to Orlando must not happen again. Grindr is not for you. Wait until you are able to handle these perverts", she said, according to the broadcaster.

The 27-year-old man that Orlando had a date with the night of his disappearance, was arrested shortly after Orlando's body was found. He has since been released, but is still considered a suspect.

A spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor told RTL Nieuws that the Prosecutor will decide whether the suspect will be prosecuted in the coming weeks. So far no details were released about how Orlando died. The investigation is ongoing.
