Missing man found dead in Amsterdam canal

The body of missing 26-year-old Joris Lenselink was found in the water of the Groenburgwal in Amsterdam on Sunday afternoon. The young man has been missing since Friday, Het Parool reports.

The police believe Lenselink ended up in the water while cycling home on Friday night.

Lenselink was last seen leaving cafe Sluyswacht between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Friday. On Sunday family and friends helped the police search the routes he could have taken home.

His bicycle was found on Groenburgwal, between a boat and the quay. Divers then searched the canal with sonar equipment, leading to the discovery of the young man's body.
