Boy, 15, dies after resuscitation on school trip

A 15-year-old boy resuscitated during a school drip in Lauwersoog on Monday, passed away on Thursday morning, his school said on their website. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to Luuk's parents, brothers and other family", secondary school Roelof van Echten College wrote, RTL Nieuws reports.

Luuk suffered cardiac arrest while cycling with his classmates from Hoogeveen to Lauwersoog on Monday. From Lauwersoog the class would have taken a boat to Schiermonnikoog, where they planned to spend several days. Luuk collapsed near the Luawersoog pier. The boy was resuscitated at the scene and rushed to the hospital.

A mother of one of the other pupils told RTL on Tuesday that they are very shocked. "In the morning the class left for their school camp very cheerfully and came back crying by bus in the evening. It is terrible."
