Police show photo of wrong boy on detection program

On Monday the police showed the photo of a boy as a suspect in an assault on Bureau Brabant. A day later the police announced that the boy in the photo had nothing to do with the assault. The police accidentally showed the wrong photo, Omroep Brabant reports.

The photo was shown in connection with the assault of a 73-year-old man from Tilburg. He was badly injured after being pushed from a staircase.

"During the police investigation the police received another picture showing someone wearing a white T-shirt. These two photos were mistakenly swapped and the wrong photo was shown on Bureau Brabant", the police said in a statement on Tuesday. The error came to light when the boy's parents contacted the police.

The police apologized for the mistake. The wrong photo was removed and the police are looking into how this type of error can be prevented in the future.
