Body of Russian woman found in Hague yoga studio; reportedly hacked to pieces

A woman was found dead in a yoga studio in the Neptunusstraat in Den Hague on Thursday afternoon. The police suspects the woman was victim of a brutal crime. A 40-year-old man from Den Haag was arrested in connection with the case, according to a police report.

The victim is the 30-year-old Russian owner of the yoga studio, according to AD, and rumors are circulating that the victim was hacked to pieces. The police did not confirm the fact, in order not to undermine the investigation. A neighbor provided video images to Omroep West showing that her body was dismembered, the broadcaster said. The police reacted by asking the public to stop shooting videos and photos of dead victims.

The suspect was arrested at the crime scene soon after the discovery of the body. AD reports that the man was seen leaving the building covered in blood and getting on an ambulance. His injuries were not connected to the crime, according to police. The neighbor recognized him as the partner of the victim.

Neighbors were shocked by the crime, calling the couple "normal", often seen walking their dog around in the neighborhood.

The police is undertaking a wide investigation on the case. In their report the police invited anyone with information on the case to contact the investigators at the Scheveningen police station.
