Suspect arrested in Tilburg woman's murder

A 35-year-old man from Tilburg was arrested in connection with the murder of 58-year-old Hennie de Laat, who was found dead on Hoogvensestraat in the city on Saturday night. The suspect was arrested in Breda on Wednesday afternoon, the victim's daughter confirmed to Omroep Brabant.

The man is suspected of involvement in the Tilburg woman's death, a spokesperson for the police said to the broadcaster. He would not comment on whether victim and suspect knew each other, and could not say whether there are more suspects in the picture. Four homes in Tilburg and Breda were searched after the arrest.

That De Laat was killed in a crime is clear to the police, though exactly how she died is not yet known. An autopsy was done on her body on Wednesday. The results may take some time, the police said.

The police did extensive investigations at the scene where De Laat's body was discovered by a passerby, and on Bachlaan where her car was found by a police officer on Tuesday.
