Politicians concerned about right-wing extremist group patrolling Dutch dunes

The CDA in the Rotterdam city council wants clarification about "patrols" right-wing extremist group Voorpost claims they perform in the dunes in Hoek van Holland. In a statement on Sunday, Voorpost said their members patrol the dunes looking for undocumented migrants. According to the CDA, such searches jeopardize public order and are "highly undesirable", AD reports.

In their statement, Voorpost said that they call in the police if their members find undocumented migrants. A video was posted with the statement, showing men wearing Voorpost arm bands walking through the dunes and searching bunkers. On its website Voorpost writes that "all signals are on red" and that it is important to combat the "rising flow of migrants". "Voorpost is in any case ready for it! Voorpost is on the street when politics neglect it!"

CDA leader in Rotterdam Christine Eskes wants to know what the mayor and aldermen know about these patrols. A spokesperson for the Rotterdam police told AD that they are not aware of Voorpost's claims.

Ferries to England leave from Hoek van Holland. Stowaways are regularly found on these ferries.
