Woman held in boy's Amsterdam station abandonment

Authorities arrested one woman in connection with the apparent abandonment of a young boy at Amsterdam Centraal station, police announced Thursday afternoon. Tips from alert citizens led to the arrest, police added.

The identity of the woman and her relationship with the child was not revealed. The child had also not said one word to investigators after he was taken into custody, but police believe he is either four or five years of age.

He was left at the train station on Sunday. Police released footage on Thursday morning of the boy and a woman at the station, asking the public's help to find the woman.

A foster family is currently caring for the child.
