Book by Dutch crime lord's sister to be turned into U.S. TV series

An American television series is in the works for Astrid Holleeder's book Judas, in which she tells about her life under criminal brother Willem Holldeeder, Deadline reports.

"Judas is the unbelievable but true story which follows Holleeder's life as the youngest sister to Willem Holleeder, the Netherlands' most notorious criminal mob boss", the entertainment website writes. "Judas is described as a story about family, betrayal and a woman's journey of empowerment through the unthinkable."

According to Deadline, there was quite the competition to get the film rights to Holleeder's book. The rights were finally acquired by Atlas Entertainment and Amblin. Atlas recently produced box office hit Wonder Woman. And Amblin is known for CBS series Bull and FX series The Americans.

When exactly Judas will be turned into a television series, is unclear. An English translation of the Dutch bestseller is set to appear in American bookstores next year.

Judas was a best seller in the Netherlands for 10 weeks after it published last year. Astrid Holleeder had to go into hiding after the book came out, fearing retaliation from her brother.
