Nothing found in search for Utrecht woman; police consider accident unlikely

Nothing useful was found in two searchers for missing 25-year-old Anne Faber in Baarn on Monday. A number of items were discovered, but they have no connection to the Utrecht woman, who has been missing since Friday. The police are very concerned about the woman. They consider the scenario that she was the victim of an accident to be unlikely, RTL Nieuws reports.

Anne Faber disappeared around 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while cycling during stormy weather. Around 6:50 p.m. she sent a selfie of herself in the rain to her boyfriend. The police traced the location of that selfie to the corner of Hilversumsestraatweg and Amsterdamsestraatweg in Baarn. On Sunday the police searched the area around that crossing, but to no avail. On Monday friends and family of Faber gathered in Baarn to search for the woman, supported by the police. They searched the area around Hilversumsestraatweg and the Soestdijk Palace, again to no avail, according to NU.nl.

The police partly shared their file on the missing woman on Monday night. Therein they state that there are no signals that Anne Faber wanted to disappear for a while. Discussions with friends and family paint her as someone with a large sense of responsibility. That she went for a long cycling trip on Friday, is not unusual, according to those who know her. The police say they are considering all scenarios, but an accident seems unlikely, according to RTL.

Investigators also called on people with surveillance cameras at their home or company to check that footage for anything unusual. "Do you live in Baarn, Soest, Hilversum, De Bilt or Lage/Hoge Vuursche or surrounds?" The police ask residents of these areas to check their camera footage for Friday, September 29th, between 5:00 p.m. and midnight and share relevant footage with the investigators.
