Dutch princess cycles to first day of high school
Princess Alexia went to her first day of high school on an old-school Dutch bicycle on Monday. As he did with her older sister Amalia two years ago, King Willem-Alexander recorded a video of his middle-child leaving for school and the Koninklijk Huis posted it on social media.
Princess Alexia is joining her older sister at the Christelijk Gymnasium Sorghvliet in The Hague. She turned 12 in June. During the annual press conference with the Royal family in the summer holiday, Queen Maxima said that Alexia is looking forward to high school. "She's very excited", she said, according to broadcaster NOS.
Sorghvliet, like many high schools in the Netherlands, did not have lessons on Monday. The day was reserved for new and old students to pick up their books and become acquainted with new classmates. Lessons start on Tuesday.
