King and Queen to dining with 150 Dutch tonight for King's birthday
King Willem-Alexander is continuing celebrating his 50th birthday with a special dinner at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam tonight. 150 Dutch whose birthdays are also on April 27th will be dining with the King and Queen, ANP reports.
Over 11 thousand people who share a birthday with the King applied to attend this dinner. The conditions to qualify included that your birthday must be on April 27th and that you must be celebrating a 'crown year' this year. Of the invitees, 50 turned 50 years old yesterday and are exactly the same age of the King. The other 100 attendees are 25, 35 or 75 years old.
After the dinner, the Royal couple and dinner attendees will go outside to Dam Square to take a group "gigapixel" photo - a photo that is 100 times as sharp as an ordinary picture. According to the news wire, this picture can be taken of the entire Dam Square and everyone in it will be able to see themselves clearly. The King therefore invites everyone who wants to be in a picture with him to be on Dam Square around 9:45 p.m. tonight.
After the pictures, the doors to the palace will open to the public for 50 consecutive hours. According to Het Parool, all 12,500 free entrance tickets have already been claimed.
