Former CDA alderman admits to sexual contact with teen girl

Former CDA alderman in Gorinchem Eeuwit K. confessed in court that he had sexual contact with a 16-year-old girl. According to him, they had a short "equal relationship" in 2015, RTV Rijnmond reports.

The 33-year-old man approached the girl, who he met at church, through the CDA's youth division. "She was a good sparring partner. Better than many councilors. I saw a talent in her", K. said in court on Tuesday. "We were in regular contact, that turned into flirting and then I fell madly in love. I was no longer aware of the age difference." At the time he was CDA faction leader in Gorinchem.

The girl ended the relationship when she got a boyfriend. When K. was named alderman, she pressed charges against him. She wants 5 thousand euros in compensation, according to the broadcaster.

According to the Public Prosecutor, K. abused his position of power to take advantage of a young girl. K. acknowledged guilt. "I can hit myself over the head. This had major consequences. I am very sorry for what I did to her and my wife. As a Christian I have sinned." He sent the girl an apologetic letter.

The trial continues on July 19th.
