Wilders joins Turkish Embassy protest in The Hague

PVV leader Geert Wilders and a number of candidate PVV parliamentarians are demonstrating in front of the Turkish Embassy in The Hague on Wednesday. Wilders is carrying a banner reading "Stay away! This is our country", ANP reports.

A number of anti-Islam group Pegida supporters are also in front of the embassy. The police closed down the street and many officers are present.

The protest is against a political campaign for a Turkish referendum in April, which will give president Recep Tayyip Erdogan more power. Turkish ministers want to hold the campaign in the Netherlands and other places, urging Turkish communities to vote for more power for Erdogan. Turkish Foreign Minister Melvut Cavusoglu plans to campaign in Rotterdam on March 11th.

The Dutch government is against such Turkish campaigns in the Netherlands.
