"Sensation" dance fest to leave Netherlands after 18 years

After 18 years of dancing, organizers ID&T is stopping the Dutch edition of dance party Sensation. The last Sensation is happening in Amsterdam on Saturday, July 8th. It's theme is The Final, NU.nl reports.

DJs Hardwell, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Axwell & Ingrosso en Fedde le Grand will all perform at the final edition of Sensation. As will another DJ, who the organizers are keeping a secret for the time being. During the last hour of the final party, a number of Dutch DJs will take the stage to close the event together. Ticket sales for the last Sensation in Amsterdam starts on February 27th at 4:00 p.m.

The first Sensation dance festival was held in the Amsterdam ArenA in the year 2000. The concept of an all white dress code won several awards. The party attracts about 40 thousand visitors per year. Later a "Sensation Black" edition followed, held between 2002 and 2008, in which visitors had to dress in all black and heavier house music was played.

The Sensation parties soon expanded to the rest of the world, with 34 countries spread over 5 continents now holding their own version fo the dance festival .

According to a spokesperson of the Dutch Sensation, the concept will not completely disappear from the Netherlands and something new will come in its place. No comment on what exactly that will be however.
