Resident shot & killed in Limburg home invasion

A man was killed after two suspects invaded his Geleen home during the early hours of Wednesday morning. Some Dutch media sources report that the man was shot to death, though this has not yet been confirmed, ANP reports.

According to the police, a witness heard a bang and that is why there is talk of a shooting. But the cause of the man's death is still uncertain. Emergency services tried to resuscitate the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two suspects forced their way into the home around 3:00 a.m., the police said in a statement. The home is in an apartment building on Beatrixlaan. The 29-year-old resident was found severely injured in the flat and died at the scene.

The police could say nothing about the circumstances surrounding the incident or a possible motive.

According to newspaper AD, there are 28 flats in the building and most of the residents are elderly people. Local residents told the newspaper that the victim is a Tunisian. His wife was unharmed and was taken to the police station to make a statement.
