Free flowers to be handed out in Amsterdam, Den Bosch on Nat’l Tulip Day

Saturday is National Tulip day in the Netherlands. And as is by now a tradition, the start of the tulip season will be celebrated with a large tulip picking garden on Amsterdam's Dam square. This year Den Bosch also decided to take part.

On Saturday tulip workers will install the massive tulip garden on Dam square, which will contain 200 thousand tulips in various colors, according to AT5. From 1:00 p.m. everyone is welcome to come and pick a bouquet for themselves, free of charge. The municipality expects that the flowers will be done around 4:30 p.m.

The theme for this year is "Dutch Design", which will be reflected in the garden's design.

This year Bosch Bloemen on Klaas Fuitestraat in Den Bosch will also be participating in Tulip day. The flower store invites people to come make up their own bouquet for free on Saturday. There will be a wide variety of tulips available, as well as information on each variety, Genmuiden Actueel reports.

Tulip Day has been celebrated in Amstedam on the third Saturday in January every year since 2012. It is an initiative of the Dutch tulip growers, who install the garden themselves with the help of friends, family and volunteers.
