Missing Utrecht teen found unharmed

Ikram Ammari, a 13-year-old girl missing from Driebergen in Utrecht since Monday, was found unharmed on Tuesday night, the police said in a statement. Where she was during the more than 24 hours that she was missing is unclear. The police would also not say where she was found.

The girl was found around 8:00 p.m., according to the police. She was taken to a police station, where officers talked to her about where she was and what happened. She was then taken to her home. "Ikram is doing well under the circumstances", the police said.

Ikram's sister in law also confirmed that the girl has been found. "The whole family is very releived." she said to AD. On Facebook she wrote: "Ikram has been found! Hamdoelillah [Thanks to God], thanks to everyone!"

A joint police and military search for Ikram ended on Tuesday evening without the girl being found. "We are very worried. Everything is being done to find Ikram", her sister in law Imane said to RTL Nieuws at the time. "My husband is her stepbrother and he's been in the woods all day. We do what we can."

Ikram's parents reported her missing after she did not return home from school on Monday. On Tuesday a search was launched in the heavily-wooded area between Driebergen and Zeist, after a bag believed to belong to the girl was found. The search involved police officers, soldiers, sniffer dogs and a police helicopter. The bag turned out not to be Ikram's, Imane confirmed.
