Three killed, one critically injured in Dutch highway accident near Vriezenveen
Three people were killed and one critically injured in an accident on the N36 highway near Vriezenveen. The accident involving two cars happened around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, local newspaper Tubantia reports.
The accident happened when one of the two cars involved ended up on the wrong side of the road. The 62-year-old woman from ALmelo and 70-year-old man from Schuinesloot in one car were both killed. The 58-year-old man from Applescha in the other car also did not survive the accident. His passenger, 56-year-old woman also from Appelscha, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
The N36 was closed down for several hours while the police investigated what happened. A spokesperson could not say anything about the investigation on Sunday night.
According to Tubantia, 16 people were killed on the N36 over the past seven years. Figures show that you are more likelly to get into an accident on the N36 than other similar highways, according to the newspaper.
