Econ. Affairs secretary Van Dam not on Labour election list

State Secretary Martijn van Dam of Economic Affairs is not on the PvdA's candidate list for parliamentarians in the upcoming elections, scheduled for March next year. But he would like to be part of a future cabinet, he said to Dutch newspaper AD. "When I went to the Tweede Kamer (the lower house of Dutch parliament, ed) I decided that I can only be a good representative of the people if it never ceases to amaze me. And at some point after thirteen years that amazement waned, while it is the fuel you really need. So I will not be a candidate for the PvdA list", he said to the newspaper. That does not mean he wants to leave politics. He would like to be part of a next cabinet.
