Islamic school suing parents over Gulen statements

A foundation for Islamic education in Zaanstad SIOZ is suing four parents over negative statements and comments made about De Roos, a school believed to be affiliated with Fethullah Gulen. The foundation wants the parents to stop making Gulen-related comments about the school immediately and that all previous statements be rectified, according to Haarlem court details, ANP reports. Under the name IBS Roos the foundation covers schools in Zaandam and Purmerend. On social media De Roos was accused of being a "Gulen school", which the foundation vehemently denies. The foundation wants the four parents involved to delete Facebook Groups and WhatsApp groups on which these accusations were made. The SIOZ also wants the court to fine them. A number of parents removed their children from schools alleged to be affiliated with Fethullah Gulen, including De Roos. This is linked to an attempted coup in Turkey in June, for which the Turkish government blames Gulen.
