Prison sought for Eindhoven biker gang shootout

The Public Prosecutor demanded eight years in prison against tree members of motorcycle club No Surrender in the court in Den Bosch on Wednesday. They are suspected of involvement in a violent shootout in a residential area in Eindhoven almost two years ago, ANP reports.

The shootout happened on October 4th, 2014 due to a financial conflict, according to the prosecutor. Suspect David M. asked his fellow gang members to help him with a debt. Dressed in their No Surrender uniforms and bulletproof vests, they went to the home of the person believed to be creditor on Medoclaan in Eindhoven. A shootout ensued.

Luckily no one was killed or seriously injured. The Prosecutor called it "a criminal battlefield". The investigation showed that at least nine shots were fired from at least three guns.

The police spent a long time hunting down the suspects. Jori Sven van Z. was only arrested last year after he himself was shot on the Ramblas in Barcelona in July. Fellow suspect Sebastiaan ter W. turned himself in after Van Z. was caught. Van Z. is the only one to deny being present at the shooting, though police officers recognized him on video footage. Ter W. admits he was there, but denies firing any shots. Video footage show that M. at least was not carrying a gun.

The suspects' lawyers Jan-Hein Kuijpers and Mark Nillesen think the demanded punishment is much to high. Kuijpers even wants a charge of attempted murder dropped because he claims the guns were not aimed at anyone's body. The other side of the gunfight, including a still at large Satudarah member, must appear in court next week.
