Schiphol security workers plan Amsterdam airport strike

Security employees at Schiphol airport are planning a protest in an effort to reduce their workload, union FNV announced. This protest can take any form, from handing out flyers to a strike. The time and details of the protest will be discussed on Tuesday. "Safety and passenger interest needs to be carefully looked at in the action", FNV project leader Leen van der List said to news wire ANP. This is the result of the airport and employers not meeting an ultimatum the unions gave them last Monday. FNV wants concrete measures to be taken to reduce the security staff's workload. The employees have been complaining about the workload for some time. The pressure on them is causing fatigue and decreasing their alertness, leading to long passenger lines and an increased risk of dangerous situations.
