Prosecutor: Houseboat bombing killer also needs mental care

The Public Prosecutor is calling on the justice system to add institutionalized psychiatric treatment to the prison sentence of a man convicted of killing one person by blowing up a houseboat. A court sentenced Milco G., 27, to .sentenced to 17 years for the bombing in Wormer last year that also severely injured one. G. said he was targeting someone else and blew up the wrong houseboat. He also claimed in court that he never intended to kill or injure anyone. His actual target was a man G. claims abused his sister. The police found no evidence of such abuse. The court did not impose mandatory treatment in the initial verdict, because it was never established that G. suffered from a psychological disorder at the time of the attack. He refused to cooperate with examinations by the Pieter Baan Center. According to the Prosecutor, there is strong evidence in the investigation that the man suffers from a severe disorder and it would be irresponsible to let him back into society after his sentence without treatment.
