Lingerie designer Marlies Dekker in court over bankruptcy

Fashion designer Marlies Dekker is testifying under oath in court on Friday about the run-up to her company's bankruptcy in 2013. This testimony was requested by previous shareholders and creditors, AD reports. The shareholders and creditors lost millions of euros when the MD-group suddenly went bankrupt in 2013, only to restart again a few days later. They hope this testimony will reveal whether or not they were misled. If that is the case, they are considering civil proceedings against the group, of which Marlies Dekker is still the creative director. In 2013 several shareholders had discussions with potential financiers to save the company. Suddenly and unexpectedly they were told that they were facing bankruptcy in seven companies within the group. But the bankruptcy report by administrators Christiaan Groen and Marcel Groen showed that the bankruptcy was not unexpected. A few months earlier Rabobank withdrew a million euros in credit. After a quick bankruptcy procedure, the company was resurrected after a few days, with private investor Karmijn Kapitaal as the new owner. In addition to Marlies Dekker, former managers and directors of the company will also be questioned under oath.
