Graffiti fight underway as Feyenoord/Utrecht cup final looms

Utrecht struck another blow in the graffiti war between Feyenoord and FC Utrecht supporters in the run-up to the KNVB Cup final between their teams. The newest street art, on the wall of cafe De Don in De Meern, shows a gnome with three trophies, referring to FC Utrecht's three previous KNVB Cup victories. If Utrecht wins the cup again on April 24th, an fourth cup will be added to the painting, one of the graffiti artists involved said to Dutch newspaper AD. The graffiti war began with a painting of the same gnome on houses set to be demolished in Ondiep. That painting had the gnome running away with the trophy under his arm.

Feyenoord retaliated with a painting of their mascot - Ollie the elephant - dashing away with the trophy while Utrecht's Dom tower burns in the background.
