12 years in prison for female half of Dutch "Bonnie & Clyde"

Enise B., the female half of the criminal couple who became known as the Dutch Bonnie & Clyde when they left a trail of violence through the east of the Netherlands two years ago, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on appeal by the court in Leeuwarden on Tuesday, NU reports. The sentence is the same as the sentence she received when the case was first tried by the court in Assen last year. B. appealed against the sentence because her lawyer thought she was punished too severely given that she had no previous criminal record. B. and her partner Antonio van der P. went on a two week long crime spree through the Netherlands in 2014, starting with a robbery in the Drenthe town of Echten and ending with their arrest in a hotel in Schwerte, Germany. Their crimes included attempted murder, robbery, aggravated assault, kidnapping and extortion, among other things. A number of their victims reported suffering from post traumatic stress disorder after encountering the duo. B.'s lawyer Peter Plasman is "disappointed" by the ruling. "We had a different expectation in this appeal", he said. Van der P. was sentenced to 16 years in prison by the court in Assen last year. He did not appeal.
