Suspected Dutch “Audi Gang” members killed in crash after German burglary

Three Utrecht residents were killed and another critically injured in a car crash while fleeing from the scene of a burglary in Germany on Monday morning. The trio sped away from a burglary at a telecom shop in Krefeld in a stolen Audi and lost control of the car. The car went off the road, rolled and ended up against a tree. All three Dutch were thrown from the vehicle, German news site Focus.de reports. According to RTL Nieuws, the police are investigating whether the three Utrecht residents were part of the so-called Audi Gang, which has been active in Germany for months. The gang consists of Dutch criminals who commit crimes in Germany and the speed back to the Netherlands in fast Audi's or BMW's. The three involved in Monday's accidents were all 22 year olds from Utrecht. One died at the scene, another in the hospital. The third is in critical condition. Their identities were easily confirmed due to the fact that their families reported them missing in the Netherlands. Inside the stolen Audi the police found burglars' tools and a number of brand new mobile phones. From pictures of the accident it looks like the car involved was an Audi RS4 Avant. The high-powered RS4 variant can travel from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, with a top speed of about 280 km/h. It uses a 4.2-liter V8 engine delivering 450 metric horsepower (PS), and 430 Nm of torque.
