Court frees third suspect in fatal jewellery store robbery

The third suspect in the fatal Goldies jewelry store robbery in Deurne last year, was acquitted on appeal by the court in Den Bosch on Wednesday, NU reports. When the case was first tried, Zakaria G. was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. G. appealed. G. was not present at the robbery. The other two suspects were shot and killed by the jeweler's wife. The Public Prosecutor again demanded three years in prison against the 28 year old suspect. According to the prosecutor, he helped prepare for the robbery. He visited the jewelry store two weeks before the robbery and provided the car the other two suspects used. He and one of the killed robbers were also roommates. But the court in Den Bosch ruled that there is not enough evidence conclusively prove that the man knew about the robbery and he was acquitted.
