Girl’s name no longer “Isis” after parents shouted for her in a theme park

A family from Schijndel changed their 5 year old daughter's name after calling for her at a theme park drew hostile glares. The little girl was named Isis. Given the situation in Syria and Iraq, Dorinda Jansen is worried about the negative response her young daughter's name can evoke, she said on RTL Late Nite on Wednesday. She told how she lost sight of Isis at the German amusement park Phantasialand. She felt everyone glaring at her as she called for her daughter, until her mother-in-law finally told her to stop. Facebook also recently decided to remove everyone with the name Isis on their profile from the site. Only those who could prove that they were not connected to the terrorist organization in any way, were allowed back. Dorinda saw this as a sign that her girl's name had to be changed. So Dorinda and her husband recently started calling their daughter Isabella. The 5 year old helped them pick the name. The little girl's name has not officially been changed yet, that has to be done by a court and it may take some time. "I'm so relieved that I can simply call for her on the street", Dorinda said.
