Schools angry over students interrupting Paris moment of silence

A number of schools in the Netherlands had to deal with students disrupting the minute of silence to honor the Paris victims on Monday. Fluer Nollet of the Foundation School & Safety confirmed this to the Reformatorisch Dagblad on Thursday. The government-subsidized foundation helps schools in recognizing and preventing radicalization. According to Nollet, several schools had students shouting slogans and acting rowdy during the minute of silence, though she did not want to mention which schools were involved. "I worry about the hardening and polarization in our society", she said to the newspaper. She emphasized that she is not calling all the rowdy behavior on Monday jihadist. "Young people also shout things from wantonness. They disagree that in their eyes only the French victims are commemorated, and not, for example, terrorism victims in the Middle East."
