Cabinet criticized over asylum security screening failures
A majority in parliament is demanding improvement in the screenings of asylum seekers. According to them, there is currently no clarity on who is entering the country.
This follows a damning report by the Security and Justice Inspectorate, the Telegraaf reports. The report showed that people with forged papers are allowed to go through the asylum procedure in the Netherlands.
The Tweede Kamer, lower house of parliament, is concerned that this means that ISIS fighters can also enter the Netherlands by pretending to be refugees. They are demanding that Justice State Secretary Klaas Dijkhoff do something about it.
The PvdA, VVD, CDA and D66 think that more manpower can improve the registration of asylum seekers, according to the Telegraaf. PVV leader Geert Wilders is demanding that the borders be closed.
