Dutch development aid money feeds millions

The 4.2 billion euros the Netherlands invested in development aid last year gave millions of people in developing countries something to eat, something to drink or a job. This is according to calculations by the Ministry of Foreign Aid and Development Cooperation, which Minister Lilianne Ploumen sent to the Tweede Kamer, lower house of parliament, on Friday, Het Parool reports. According to the report, Dutch tax money gave 1.6 million extra people in the developing world clean water, 8 million people now eat better and 150 thousand jobs have been created. The Netherlands have aid relationships with 15 countries and three regions. The aid money is paid to partner governments or aid organizations, who have to report back to the Ministry on progress made.
