Fourteen year prison sentence demanded of drive-by shooting suspects

Public Prosecutor has demanded that two suspects who have been arrested in connection with a drive-by attempted assassination be sentenced for an unconditional 14 year prison sentence. The public prosecutor has called for this in light of the incident taking place in a residential area in broad daylight, with a semi-automatic firearm. The two men are suspected of an assassination attempt on June 27, 2104 in Ten Veldestraat, De Meern. The intended victim survived the attack. He was wounded in the chest, neck, abdomen and both arms. The victim managed to drive over one of the gunmen seriously injuring both his legs. This suspect, a now 50 year old man from Utrecht, was found later that same day in France. He claims not to remember anything about what happened. The mother of the other suspect, a 34-year-old man nicknamed De Bolle, stated that her son has been involved in an attempted assassination and he had left. Turning himself in would have been too dangerous the OM website reported. He was arrested in Spain on June 28, 2015. The Public Prosecutor believes that there is sufficient evidence to prove the guilt of both suspects. Statements from one of the suspect’s mothers, wire tapped phone conversations and traces of DNA.
