Sea container filled with 1,800 kg of pot found in Rotterdam; 1 arrest

A 52 year old Amsterdam man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the discovery of 1,800 kilograms of cannabis discovered in a container at the port of Rotterdam. He is suspected of importing the drugs. According to the Public Prosecutor, the cannabis was discovered on Monday during a customs inspection at the port. The weed was hidden in a rice container originating from Thailand. In total the customs officers found 86 boxes filled with cannabis packed in airtight bags. The drugs are worth more than 5 million euros. All boxes were seized and destroyed. On Friday the magistrate released the Amsterdam man from custody, but he remains a suspect.
