Non-profit to help young DJs get fair contracts

A non-profit interest group that aims to stand up for good contracts and copyright protection for young and upcoming DJ's was launched during the jubilee edition of the Amsterdam Dance Event. The Dutch DJ Foundation was founded by the parents of prominent DJ's such as Martin Garrix and Hardwell. “The Dutch DJ Foundation is especially interested in promoting the interests of novice DJ’s that are discovered in their teenage years and are offered contracts”, stepfather of DJ HeadHunterz, Michiel van Kleef, was reported saying by broadcaster RTL Nieuws. Van Kleef also expressed concern about young DJ's signing their rights away and suddenly being owned by a record label. "It is a very obscure world were everyone wants to earn a lot of money", he said to RTL, adding that the young DJ's themselves are not interested in that. "They only want to do one thing: play music." The Dutch DJ Foundation wants to continue discussions with government in hopes of a partnership and collaboration on working with better information.
