Over 1,200 damage reports after last week’s earthquake

Some 1,240 reports of damage following last week's earthquake in Hellum, Groningen were called in to the CVW, an organization set up to monitor safe living conditions in the region. The province has been plagued by an onslaught of tremors and earthquakes brought on by the extraction of natural gas there. About 275 of the damage reports come from the town of Slochteren, the organization said. Of those reporting damage, 450 of the claims came over the weekend. The CVW suspected most victims could only search for and report damage over the weekend as they were too busy dealing with their own situations up to that point. The earthquake last Wednesday measured 3.1 on the Richter Scale, making it the strongest earthquake of the year. https://twitter.com/CVW_Groningen/status/650972459424972800 https://twitter.com/CVW_Groningen/status/650972761402306561
