Laser pointer aimed at police helicopter leads to Amsterdam teen's arrest

A 15-year-old Amsterdam boy was briefly detained Sunday night after he shined a laser pointer at a police helicopter, the police department revealed in a statement. The pilot of the helicopter managed to pin-point the boy's suspected location, and officers were dispatched to the home to investigate. The incident happened at about 9:15 p.m. Police said the boy confessed to impulsively shining the bright laser at the helicopter. Officers confiscated the item. The aviation unit made an official declaration against the teen. Police caution that shining a bright light at a helicopter may be considered "willfully obstructing" the police, and can lead to three months in jail, with a fine of up to 4,050 euros
