Elderly people in assisted living to keep care

Elderly people receiving care in assisted living, will be allowed to keep this care. State Secretary Martin van Rijn of Public Health informed the Tweede Kamer, lower house of parliament, that that these elderly people can continue to receive their care package in their own home, NU reports. This involves a group of about 1,500 to 2 thousand very old people who have already received this assistance on December 31st last year. The new rules in the healthcare sector would have resulted in these people possibly losing their current care and be unable to continue living independently. Client organizations sounded the alarm about this and the Tweede Kamer instructed Van Rijn to find a solution. After consultation with the involved organizations, he has now decided that the current package can be maintained. The practical implementation and legal justification still has to be discussed, but care offices are allowed to informed those concerned about the decision.
