Bankruptcy filings continue to decline

The number of companies and institutions going bankrupt in the Netherlands, is continuing its downward trend, which started in the summer of 2013. There were 35 fewer bankruptcies in June than in May. This is according to figures released by Statistics Netherlands on Thursday. The number of bankruptcies last month, adjusted for the number of days the court sat in session, was at the lowest level since January 2009. A total of 472 businesses and institutions - excluding one-man businesses - were declared bankrupt in June 2015. The most bankruptcies came from the trade sector, followed by financial institutions, with 100 and 73 bankruptcies respectively. In the first half of the year a total of 2,908 companies and institutions went bankrupt, 16 percent less than in the first half of 2014.
