Warmest July 1 on record

Wednesday was the hottest 1st of July ever to be recorded in the Netherlands. At around 2:20 p.m. the temperature measured at 31.7 degrees in De Bilt, taking the record from 1961 when it measured 31.5 degrees, the Telegraaf reports. The temperature likely reached around 33 degrees in De Bilt on Wednesday. The south and southwest of the country even had temperatures up to 36 degrees. The highest temperature measured on Wednesday was in Hoek van Holland with 34.5 degrees. The temperatures will only increase in the coming days. German Weather Service Wetteronline expects that the mercury in the south of the Netherlands could rise to 41 degrees on Saturday.
