KLM cutting winter schedule as revenue drops

KLM is decreasing the number of flights in its winter schedule in an effort to compensate for falling revenues, the airline announced on Wednesday. The cuts will result in 500 thousand fewer seats than previously planned. Flight frequencies will be reduced to 10 European destinations, Japan, Brazil and Africa. The winter schedule runs from October 25th to March 26th. As the revenues are under pressure, KLM has to accelerate its planned cutbacks. The airline has already reached agreements with the unions of the cabin crew and ground crew on a new collective bargaining agreement. Further implementation now depends on an agreement with pilots' union VNV.
